Yup, that was me on rollerblade. Something I’ve already forgotten and never-crossed-in-my-mind-to-do-it-again until yesterday. Back when I was in high school around first or second grade, this was something I regularly did on my free times. I remember I even had an accident caused by this activity. When I left my town for university, I abandoned my California Pro for so-out-of-date, not-trendy-anymore or only-teenagers-do-that reasons. Then my little brother sold them for a guitar.
It began with a light chit chat with a friend who just went back from her assignment in Australia. She told me that she rollerblades quite regularly on weekend in East Coast and offered me to join her. And the suffering was begun …
East Coast
East Coast is southern-east part of Singapore. It lies along southern-east beach of Singapore, a place where all outdoor activities meet in one place. Biking, rollerblading, fishing, jogging, camping and even BBQ-ing are here. We went to this nice rollerblade rental store. The cost was 10$ for 2 hours – my friend whispered that it was too much and she suggested me to get a rent from an uncle for 6$ per 2 hours. Well I don’t mind. I was still amazed by the store. This store was nice and they helped me out to put on my shoes. And few minutes later ..
Yaay .. I’m sliding on a rollerblade!
And few minutes later ..
*Ouuch .. my back! (while lying on the grass)
Hey c’mon old man, we just went for like 5 minutes long! *my friend shouted at me*
And few minutes later ..
*stop for smoking break ..
*My friends looked inpatient although I insisted asking them to go ahead.
And few minutes later ..
*Keep smiling although my back was still hurting and my feet were crying
Well finally I’ve managed the 2 hours journey. That was fun, totally. And I’m going to say this to my fellow Indonesians. If you think that this is only-teenagers-do-that things, you are totally wrong. I saw uncles, aunties, and grandpas still doing it here. Men sana corpore sano.
And oh ya .. just saw an interesting sport while I was there .. cable-water-ski.
*hmm …. thinking to give it a try …
